Significant Work
Bankruptcy
The firm has handled both individual and consumer Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies, as well as business bankruptcy dissolutions. Issues of creditors' motions to lift the stay or removal of protection of the bankruptcy court and objections to discharge have been successfully resolved. As a firm providing assistance in bankruptcy, the firm serves as a debt relief agency and helps people to file for relief under the Bankruptcy Code.
Business Litigation
Ms. Michaels' major ares of expertise are appellate and business litigation. She represented and was successful in obtaining a substantial settlement in a lender liability lawsuit against a Texas bank for improper notice to the debtor prior to set-off and acceleration of a note. Her commercial practice has consisted largely of debt collection and contractual disputes.
Appellate Work
A significant example of this appellate work was the case of Sassen v. Tanglegrove Townhouse Condo., 877 SW2d 489 (Tex. App.- Texarkana 1994). This opinion, published by the Court of Appeals- Texarkana and sustained by the Texas Supreme Court established for the first time the fiduciary duty of condominium associations towards individual condominium owners. It enabled property owners to recover damages for breach of that duty.

The firm has handled over 1000 family law cases in Harris and Fort Bend counties. Cases have ranged from divorces with questions of child custody, support, property and debt division, to paternity to pre-nuptial agreements. Resolution of these cases has been achieved through mediation as well as trial to the Court.
